Reach 24 Acres is owned by the National Trust.
Half of the area is managed by Reach Parish Council.
•Comprises 9.7ha woodland and meadow on former agricultural land
•Half the site leased to Reach Parish Council by the National Trust
•Includes a Community Orchard, Cricket Pitch, Menage and Woodland
•Woodland planted on 7/8th December 2013 by local volunteers
•Around 3,500 trees planted mainly over one weekend
•Planting was funded by the Forestry Commission
•Trees include oak, maple, beech, ash, maple, birch and hazel
•Meadow and rides important for wildflowers and butterflies
•Woodland has become valuable for small mammals and birds of prey
•BioBlitz held 24th July 2016 found 291 species
Notable wildlife includes:
•Wild Parsnip, Field Scabious, Hogweed and White Bryony
•Golden-bloomed Longhorn Beetle, Red Admiral and Small Skipper
•Common Shrew, Roe Deer and Pipistrelle Bat
Also - Barn Owl, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk
